What's Ahead in Term 2 Sports

16th January 2026

Following the great success of last term, Term 2 has started positively. Our children have set their goals early and are showing strong effort and determination to achieve them. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm, positive attitudes, and commitment across all year groups as we begin another exciting sports term at BNIS.

This term, Hockey will be our main focus sport. Children will work on important skills such as ball control, teamwork, positioning, and understanding the game. Alongside hockey, learners will also take part in Basketball and Tennis, giving them the chance to try different sports and build a wide range of skills.

Our Year 1 children will focus on developing Fundamental Movement Skills, which are the building blocks for all sports. They will also be introduced to Football in a fun and age-appropriate way that helps build confidence, coordination, and enjoyment.

Term 2 will be a busy and exciting one, with many sporting events planned. In the coming weeks, our learners will take part in a Triathlon, which will help them develop resilience and perseverance. We also have Swimming Galas, a Golf Event, and several Hockey Tournaments planned, giving children the chance to use their skills in competitive settings.

We are also excited to host an Under-7 Football Festival at the end of February. This event will celebrate participation, teamwork, and the joy of playing sport, while showcasing our youngest learners.

Our goal is to give children as many opportunities as possible, both in and out of school, to show what they have learned, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for sport. We are confident that this term will bring growth, fun, and many memorable moments.

Our school motto, BELIEVE, continues to inspire our learners. Believing in themselves, their teammates, and the learning process has made a big difference during training and competitions. We encourage parents to support this message at home and help make BELIEVE an important part of the BNIS culture.

Here’s to a fun, active, and successful Term 2!
