Over the past two weeks, FS2 has thoroughly enjoyed immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of Mexico. The journey began with locating Mexico on a world map, along with its neighbouring countries. Delving into geographical aspects, the children learned about Mexico's diverse landscapes, including mountains, beaches, rainforests, and deserts.
Exploring historical features, they were particularly fascinated by the famous pyramids of Mexico, with Chichen Itza capturing their imaginations. Making connections during water play, the children recreated Mexico's majestic waterfalls, linking their hands-on experience with their learning about the country's natural wonders.
The children have developed an appreciation for the rich music and art of Mexican culture, engaging in its vibrant expressions. This learning was vastly enriched by the support of one of our Mexican parents. They explored the significance of celebrations in Mexican culture, gaining insights into their importance to the people of Mexico. They were fascinated when finding out about dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
We have also explored the diverse flavours of Mexican cuisine, culminating in the hands-on experience of making their own Guacamole accompanied by tortilla wraps.
