World Poetry Day

26th March 2021

A poem can be a bit of fun

Or an expression of true and deep thought.

There may be rhyme, there may be not

But with rhythm or metre it ought.

World Poetry Day, a Sunday past

is a day to celebrate verse

This unique form of art is snubbed by many

But loving it is not a curse!

So open a book or put pen to paper

and read or write some beautiful words

The marvel of the poetic craft

Is something that improves all our worlds!

(Emma Gould, March 2021)

Sunday the 21st March was World Poetry Day. We celebrated this in school on Monday 22nd with a series of poetry recitals, poetry writing and poetry exploration. Where possible, locations were changed to help stimulate the senses whilst listening to, or composing, poetry.
