Year 1s Much Loved Quiet Time!

26th March 2021

For four days a week, the Year 1 children have a 30-minute slot in their timetable that they just love. We call it Quiet Time. In small groups, they get called up to read a story together. This reading time is primarily about developing their reading fluency and love of books. The stories are short, and they get to know some characters well through a set of four books. They really do enjoy the stories, and often, others will sit in with a group just to listen to a story read by their friends.

When the children are not reading, they are either busy being creative or finishing a piece of unfinished work. They get very absorbed, often working collaboratively and needing only a few little reminders to keep quiet.

Have a look at the photos of this much loved time.
